Armchair BEA Day #5: Blogging About Blogging

Hello Friends and Followers!  We are here: the final posting topic for Armchair BEA Week.  In honor of those who are unable to attend the Book Blogger Convention today (like me and probably most of the bloggers reading this post), our posts are all about the blogging aspects of book blogging.  For inspiration, I traveled around the book blogosphere this morning in search of handy advice all those experienced bloggers were handing out. I read, I commented, and I compiled a list of my favorite tips and that is what you see here!  Feel free to comment with your favorite tips of the day and what has worked for your blog.  I'd love to check it out!

1.  BRANDING  This one I was well aware of before today but I wanted to reiterate the importance of really making a brand that is recognizable to your followers.  For more on this topic check out this post by ParajunkeeSidenote: If anyone has advice on where or how to get a logo for your blog, please let me know!  I've been looking to revamp the look of my blog as well as find a logo I can brand my business card with.  Thanks in advance for the help!

2.  REMEMBER, IT'S YOUR BLOG  Chrisbookarama and Today's Adventure both promote taking your blog at your own pace.  They have valuable advice on keeping a blog and staying sane while doing it.  Similarly, Crazy for Books talks about blogging insecurity and how to deal with it.  As a busy student, I find each of these posts amazingly helpful and reassuring.  Being a book blogger doesn't mean you have to be just a book blogger.  There is a way to make time for the other things you want/need to do in life and that's what these discussions are all about!

3.  MEMES!  This might be my favorite tip.  I was already aware that I needed to make a brand for my blog and I was vaguely conscious that other people balance book blogging with a full schedule, so why can't I?  But Memes was something totally off my radar!  Apparently, memes are an excellent way to get your blog out there and discover new blogs to follow all while participating in a fun, weekly post.  Becky's Barmy Book Blog offers links to her favorite memes which I found really helpful.  My goal for next week is to find at least one, maybe two, book memes to get involved in.  If you have any suggestions for me, please leave a comment with a link to the meme or to your meme blog post.  I'll be sure to check it out!

Those are good tips! I think the second one is really the hardest. I started out all gangbusters with my blog, but I wondered if I'd be able to keep up the pace month after month. It's so reassuring to hear other bloggers say you should only do as much as you want!

As for memes, I really like doing the blog hop/follow Friday every once in a while. There are so many great blogs out there that I'd never find otherwise.
