Armchair BEA: Final Words

Well, here we are.  We've come to the end of possibly one of the coolest events for a book lover and blogger.  I've discovered some pretty impressive book blogs, gained new followers, learned how to manage my blog more efficiently, added to my TBR list, and won a giveaway.  Oh, and if you follow me on Twitter, yes, my kitchen did get cleaned.  Eventually.

So, to conclude this week of book blogging madness, here is a look back on my favorite memories during the week (in no particular order):

THE A.M. TWITTER PARTY  It was a whirlwind of "@" and "#ArmchairBEA" and I loved every second of it, even if I was a little overwhelmed laying on the couch in my PJs.

BLOGGING ABOUT BLOGGING POSTS  Probably the most valuable posts I read; I wish this topic had come earlier in the week!  You can check out my post here.

BLOGGER INTERVIEWS  A great way to get to know bloggers you might not have stumbled upon on your own. Here's a look at my favorite responses to the interview questions I posted earlier in the week:

When did you start blogging and why?

Rebecca @ Kindle Fever says "I started blogging around February this year since I wanted to collect all my books and their reviews, after I actually started writing ones when joining Goodreads. Absolutely love it now, so to me it's part of the reading experience! I had put the blog up a bit earlier, but I never went "official" until a whole lot of my GR friends started making ones, and I thought: "Why not?" Haven't regretted it a single day since!"

What is the most under-appreciated novel you've read that you think deserves more attention?

Kate @ Weird Readings says "The Confessions of Max Tivoli by Andrew Sean Greer. Think The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, but ten times better. :)"

When not reading, what do you do for fun?

Alison @ Alison Can Read says "I love cooking, running, yoga, and especially traveling. In 2011, I've gone to the Caribbean, Chicago, Hilton Head Island, Sacramento, and this weekend I'm going to northern Minnesota."

GIVEAWAYS  Not just the sponsored Armchair BEA giveaways, but the individual blogger giveaways as well.  Even if you didn't win, it was a great way to learn about new books coming in 2011.

...and last but not least...

DISCOVERING OTHER BOOK BLOGGERS  I know I still have hundreds of book blogs to explore and friendly bloggers to meet but my new blog could not have taken off so successfully without this wonderful event.  I can't wait for next year!

Great recap! I participated this year, but it was more like lurking. Next year, I'll try to dive in a bit more!

This was a wonderful recap. I only participated in the last couple of days of Armchair BEA, but next year I will participate more actively. Because I'm a teacher, traveling to NYC at this time of year just isn't feasible. I almost think Armchair BEA was better-less expensive, less exhausting, and plenty of blogger interaction for all.

Thanks for the recap and your thoughts! It really was a great week. I think for me the best part is being able catch up now with all the missed posts and still, therefore, have the opportunity to meet other bloggers.
